Clinical Psychotherapist

Greetings! My name is Kara, and I believe that counseling is an art, and a genuine, collaborative treatment approach between the client and the therapist. As the client, you deserve to be heard, understood, and to feel safe, in an environment that allows for a non-bias, non-judgmental, and empathetic embrace. A strong therapeutic alliance between the client and the counselor is the most important aspect of the counseling process which involves trust, understanding, patience, and diligence to complete the work required for change. It brings me great joy to see clients progress and ultimately reclaim their lives and take back what is rightfully theirs; peace, joy, and healing. I want to help you reclaim yours!

My experience is rooted in public health and social work where I have served children and families, and adults 18 and over. I am also versed in working with the aging population whose families are struggling to understand the aging process and balancing the hardships that come with taking care of aging parents. As a counselor in training, I have worked with married couples, adolescents, and adults 18 and over who are enduring multiple forms of anxiety, depression, marital/couples’ conflict, and trauma related issues. I am versed in working with individuals who suffer from trauma related events, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, stress, couples experiencing high conflict, aging individuals and adult caregivers, grief/bereavement, and unhealthy attachment styles. I utilize a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused, Gestalt Approach to sessions. With couples, I explore communication styles, conflict resolution patterns and cycles, and discover new ways of active listening while meeting needs and aligning values. I have also utilized several other modalities that I have found to be beneficial to each person’s individual needs, depending on the person and where they are in their journey. For example, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) builds on the principles of CBT and teaches how to be present in the moment with ones thoughts and feelings and how to recognize thoughts and feelings preceding behaviors. This is very effective for anxiety, depression, stress, low moods, and clients struggling with happiness. I am also pleased to offer faith based counseling to those struggling with their faith and purpose.

How much do I pay if my insurance is filed through Reclamation Counseling PLLC?

Your coverage depends on the plan you’ve selected. You will want to review your plan to see what your mental health coverage is for Individual and Family Therapy.

Calling the mental health line on the back of your card can help clarify your coverage. Some helpful questions to ask are:

  • • Does my plan cover individual/family therapy under this provider?

  • • Are these billing codes covered under therapy with this provider; 90791 and 90837 (these are the most common codes billed but not complete list).

  • • How much is my copay?

  • • How much is my in-network/ out-of-network deductible?

  • • How many therapy sessions will my plan cover?

  • • Does my plan cover telehealth services?
